What is a loom?

A loom is essentially a collection of single cables grouped together in one housing. This can either be referred to as a "multicore" type loom which is typically a collection of XLR or 1/4" Jack connectors for connecting audio desks to stage boxes / patch bays. It can also be a collection of single cables (Guitar, Microphone, Midi, CAT 5E etc) grouped together by a material called Pliosil (also known as Tech Flex or Braiding) for connecting a Pedalboard to a Rack System or Amplifier rig. A loom makes connecting a multitude of things together a lot simpler and reduces your setup time considerably. It is also a makes your setup on stage or in studios considerably tidier and reduces the risk of tripping over or damaging your cables. Another advantage to a loom is that it can be custom labelled to your requirements making it idiot proof. This is especially handy for fast changeovers at shows where you only have 10-15 minutes to get your gear plugged in, switched on and functioning quickly.
